MAASIN CITY – With only ten days to go before the deadline for registration of new voters in the May 2010 elections, the Commission on Election (Comelec) here sees no problem with deadline beaters.
Acting Comelec registrar here in the city, Lawrence Irman Gelsano, said they are almost done with the registration new of voters and delisting of those who have not voted in two subsequent elections.
“So far, new registrants have become sparce as the deadline nears,” Gelsano told The Reporter online new.
He said that right now they are consolidating the datus of new voters against the delisted ones.
Gelsano also disclosed that those who were not able to beat the deadline for validation, they could still vote even they have no biometrics files.
He added that as of Saturday, more than 3,000 have registered or registered after validation.
“The new voting population of the city could reach 48,000 compared to more than 45,000 during the last election,” said the OIC Comelec registrar.
