Second face-off for 2010 polls

MAASIN CITY – Its going to be a second face-off of top positions of the province of Southern Leyte as former Rep. Aniceto Saludo, Marissa Lerias and former Gov. Rosette Lerias filed their CoCs on the last day of filing for representative, governor and city mayor respectively.
Saludo filed his candidacy for the lone district thru a representative at 2:10 p.m. under PMP, Lerias at 3:50 p.m. thru lawyer Manuel Enage, Jr and Rosette Lerias at 3:33 p.m. on December 1.
The Leriases’, who filed their CoCs under NPC banner, have no running mates. Their camps have accused the Mercado’s of cheating in the 2007 elections but did not file a formal protest with the Comelec.
The three will be contesting the candidacy of Lakas-Kampi-CMD incumbents Rep. Roger Mercado, Gov. Damian Mercado and Maasin Mayor Malone Samaco.
Mercado’s running mate is incumbent Vice. Gov. Miguel Maamo II while his board members are incumbents Cesar Rey, Atty. Teopisto Rojas, Albert Esclamado and third termer Tomas Oppus mayor Felicula Escaño for the first district.
Incumbents Daisy Gamale, Florentino Fernandez, Roberto Lagumbay and new comer Atty. Abelardo Almario.
For the opposition’s first district board members Atty. Eva Tomol, Engr. Rito Go, Dr. Iñigo Costillas and for the second district, Santi Santiago, Apolinio Animas, Jessie Labao and Arnel de la Peña.

No one was able to take pictures of the suspicious looking characters because the residents were frightened by their obnoxious presence. Locals, however, are willing to testify about the incident. They fear they might be reported by a Maasin City police who goes home to his mistress in the area. The said Maasin City police is legally married to a woman who resides in Maasin City, but he goes home to his mistress in the said vicinity which is quite a distance from Maasin City. SOLEY movers and supporters told us that the said policeman has been sighted tailing the vehicle of the Roden brothers several times not only in Maasin City but in neighboring towns as well. SOLEY President and Official Spokesperson Jeffrey J. Roden, however, has said they are holding in abeyance charges of unethical conduct against said policeman, saying it is a matter best resolved between the policeman and his spouse.

Because I am somewhat war-weary today, especially after coming back from a very rigorous mission, I thought of just kicking back and relaxing during this Christmas Day with my laptop and the Internet. BTW, its URL is at http://www.lpp.gov.ph/GovernorsProfile/mercado.html. I encourage you, Folks, to visit the site, just so you all can vouch that I did not allegedly fabricate what I am about to disclose here.
The page that I’ve pointed out to you entails his personal and offical profile. It also describes him as a GRADUATE OF BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN CIVIL ENGINEERING. Now, this is really news to me, big time!!!
I know Mian Mercado during his growing years in Maasin – as a bum and as a flunkie/high school drop-out! He took second year high school two or three times, and could not graduate because of his substandard grades!!! This information about him being a Civil Engineering graduate is absolutely fraudulent; and for him to provide false information to a supposedly government organization is preposterous and a blunder to said organization. Eddie Gullas of Cebu’s University of the Visayas (UV) has been aware of Mian’s fraudulent educational claim.
So, how can one ever trust this phony individual to run an honest government when he himself is dishonest and fake? His brother, Oging Mercado, is just as guilty for condoning the ongoing fake charade of his younger brother!
How much more are the voters of Southern Leyte going to allow the Mercados to continuously insult their intelligence? Are we willing to stand another political term of deception & falsehood with this self-proclaimed Civil Engineer? Visit the website, and you be the judge! As for Manuel Enage Jr or the III, perhaps your legal expertise can appropriately guide you to Philippine laws and regulations governing “impeachment of government officials”. I don’t know your level of intelligence but I just hope you are mature enough to understand that I am just sharing my experiences and my assessments on the people that I once worked with. It does not have to mean that I am supporting them or that I am against them in any way.
I believe you guys want to know all sides of the story so I am presenting it in the light that no one else here may have tackled yet as most of you the people here seems to be either totally for the Lerias camp and the Roden camp. Had I known the Rodens well then I might have answered questions about them too.
@ Berto Ahaha. My name is Bendever C.,Gerona, 24 and I don’t really know where you got your info but the last time I checked no relative of mine from either side got to play hookie with any Mercado. It should also be noted that during the times of my grandfather on the Gerona side, they were supporters of the Yniguez clan. I only knew this during a clan reunion and when I was already in office.

@ Epic one last time before I sleep. The choice is still between all the candidates approved by the COMELEC and that still includes the Mercados. However, the real battle is just gonna be between the Ate Dundeet and Governor Mian as the Rodens are, again, still not winnable at this point in time.
Be realistic. If money were no issue this election in a typical Pinoy election, the Rodens will still not win as not a lot of people know them. Winning is not just about having a kick-as candidate or a killer platform. In the end politics is still a game of numbers.
that will be for the population of southern leyte to decide . definitely not you.mr. bendz.so stop inductrinating them. i believe they are capable of making there own decisions.
