2010 BSP National Rover Moot and One-Visayas Jamboree in Maasin

The Boys Scouts of the Philippines Eastern Visayas Regional Council approved the back-to back hosting of the 7th National Rover Moot and the 1st One-Visayas Jamboree during its meeting last October 10, 2009 at Bohol BSP Council Office in Tagbilaran City. Presided over by yours truly, the original plan was to have the 1st One-Visayas Jamboree at Camp Capitol Hills, Cebu City. But I lobbied for the simultaneous hosting of the events at Camp Danao, Malapoc Norte in Maasin City, which the body unanimously approved.
The National Rover Moot hosting in Maasin City was earlier approved by the BSP National Executive Board last July. The Rover Moot will be participated in by rover scouts, usually college level students, while the jamboree will be joined by boy and senior scouts, for elementary and secondary students, respectively.
About 4,000 participants are expected to troop to Camp Danao, the official BSP campsite for Southern Leyte and has been a site of many scouting activities of Regions 7 and 8. The two big activities are scheduled to be held October 2010, which coincides with the scouting month celebration. The dates will be finalized by the NEB when they meet on December 28, 2009 at Mount Makiling , Los Banos, Laguna.
The twin events will promote tourism in Maasin City, as well as foster economic gains as the delegations from all over the country will pour their resources in the city. It will also fast tract the development of Danao, particularly the road concreting from the highway to Malapoc Norte. Facilities for water, toilets, subcamps and administration building will be built for the big scouting affair.
Meanwhile yours truly is appointed as Subcamp Chief for Subcamp Daza in the coming 26th Asia-Pacific Jamboree at Mount Makiling from December 28-January 3, 2010. That means I will be directing delegations from other councils all throughout the Philippines and the four foreign countries assigned in our subcamp like United States, Bhutan, Brunei and Bangladesh.
It is a gathering of scouts and scouters all over Asia-Pacific and some parts of Europe and America. And the Southern Leyte Council delegation will consist of 21 senior and rover scouts from the national high schools and the Maasin City College, 5 adults and 6 staff members.
As of November 2009, Southern Leyte is third to Bohol and Cebu in membership in the Eastern Visayas Region. Southern Coucil has just concluded its Basic Training Course for Troop and Kawan Leaders among teachers in Maasin City Division last week at the Tomas Oppus Pilot School .
If the youths in Southern Leyte want to administer our province and our country in the next few years and decades, they should take advantage of the opportunities to pursue higher education through the United Nations, instead of wasting time in gossips, undocumented accusations or unprofessional behaviors against all the previous, present and future politicians including those in the “While House” by the Pasig River. There is a deadline to apply:
