MAASIN CITY – Employees of the Southern Leyte provincial government and this city will receive higher additional cash gifts this Christmas after all.

Capitol employees were dampened by the news circulating around that only P10,000 additional bonus was allowed by the Budget department despite Southern Leyte governor Damian Mercado’s promise during Capitol’s Christmas party last December 4 that they would receive more than that of last year.

At least 1,000 regular and casual employees of the provincial government will receive P25,000 each. Job order employees will receive P12,000 each.

Jason Calva, chairman of appropriations committee, explained on Monday during the government’s regular radio program that another DBM memorandum circular was received after that first one stating that it depends on LGUs saving for additional incentives for their employees.

Last year, each provincial capitol employees received additional cash gifts of P23,000 while job order received P10,000, respectively.

The city government is expected to give the same amount to their regular and casual employees that their capitol counterpart would received.

Maasin city employees also received the same amount the provincial government gave last year.

I knew it!!! Ladies and Gentlemen, I sincerely apologize to you all if I caused 7th Mill to profusely rant again. Man, he must really feel nice to be in his own world! (Pardon my sarcasm, please.)

7th Mil, please… ‘permanently’ spare us from your religious rhetoric or outside references. I believe no one is holding you back with your comments; but, Man, you really have got to stick with the issues. I was ranting about our province’s political issues as well as admiring the quality of political viewpoints and the character behind each viewpoint. I was also trying to justify my imperfections as I don’t want to pretend what I am not.

@ 7th Mil. Oh boy. Oh boy. I’m staying out of religious talks for now. I have an impulse to antagonize people who talk about their religious beliefs in public. Good thing that impulse got watered down with age. Good luck on your journey.

@ Daniel Thanks for the nice assessment. I like politics and having to have some impact on local policies but I would prefer not to be an elected official at all. Here, your performance are mostly based on the number of times you visit a certain barangay, the amount of money you donated to fiestas and the church, and even how good you look, sing (sorry Ceasar Rey I just got to be honest, my friend) or dance. I don’t have a lot of money, I’m fat and I cannot sing in front of a stage or the gods will send in the rain and the thunderbolts for me to stop.

I bet the people are just tired of getting a lot of promises that’s why they prefer you show them what you have for them in an instant. I cannot really blame the people for this. That said, I could not also blame the politicians whenever I hear rumors that a lot of them are getting kickbacks on project. They certainly need money to give the people.

@eping. People don’t necessarily share traits just because they share a certain DNA man siguro sad baya. ehehe

I understand what you are going through right now and I’ve been through that sort of phase to be honest. Apathy is the right term for it and in this is not really the right time for it. You really don’t need to fight fight the administration to make a difference. Sharing to them your thoughts and opinions will do. This is not the proper forum for it though as not a lot of them may read this news blog.

When I was in the council, I remember Maam Estela Dator-Castro, the mother of ex-mayor Jerry Dator, sending us her thoughts on what needs to be done in the city. Her concerns can range from potholes that needs to be filled, drainages that needs to be unclogged and if my memory serves me right, she was the one who suggested to get rid of the pigeons in the plaza. It may take time for her request to be granted as it has to follow the right process first but her passion to help us do our jobs was unwavering and even inspiring.

The province already have a website and you could email them your comments if you want anonymity and easy. We were working on the city’s site before my term ended but sadly, it’s still not implemented till now. Perhaps lobbying will get the ball rolling.

@ Abe. Haha. You remind me of the few shares I have of Convergys. I think I must visit Computershare after this to give them instructions to sell. Not a lot of people here know what a bull and a bear and even a woodie sounds to nasty haha. I’m still learning the ropes and I got a few stocks in hand as well that I need to liquidate. Oops out of topic alert!

I will take that as a request from the bloggers. So, here goes…. I guess you all know I read this page. I am OT on this but would like to say that I enjoy the exchange of views very much. I encourage the banter and expression of each one’s opinion. I also learn from the insights presented by individuals. I know that the discussions get heated at times but I see it as people being very passionate about their stand. I sincerely believe that there is no intention to offend. Its people getting caught in the heat of the moment. As for my personal views, I do not believe this is the proper venue for me to air them. I don’t think it would be fair to the owners of the site if I use this as a political tool to further my personal interests. Suffice it to say, that I am grateful to them for having given Southern Leytenos all over the world the arena to freely voice out their opinions. I invite all public officials and aspiring public officials to read and learn. Thanks for your time. – dundeet

maayo unta mobasa ang ubang mga ningdagan sa eleksyon niining mga blogs dinhi…. salamat sa mga tigdumala niining websayt.

@ Site Admin. It’s time for you guys to do off-page marketing. SEO is not really that helpful when it comes to local focused sites. Tell all the candidates so they could join in.

@ Te Dundeet. I admire the delicadeza as it is rare these days specially when it comes to people in politics. I believe it’s also time for you and Maam Rosette to start blogging as well. Using the Internet on local campaigns may not be that effective for now but this will all change and one should be prepared. You also know both of you have lots of fans in both politics and even in your respective crafts and I have been always one of them.

I still owe you a blogpost on your platform. Mom is always asking me to stream all the teleseryes she failed to watch. Nyaahah. I’m still waiting for the others to send it their platforms as well so I will not be considered biased on your side on my blog and biased to the Mercados here. I wonder why people like to use the word bias these days. Must be the election fever.

@ Berto. She has a facebook page called Lerias for Change which was a gift to her from a 14-year old boy. She also has her own facebook personal profile. Other political figure on Facebook also includes Roger Mercado, Maloney Samaco who I believe uses the name Maasincity Southern Leyte, Odong Saludo, Nikko Mercado, and Maam Essie Garvez.

It’s amazing what facebook can do these days. It’s starting to be more like your social Operating System in a sense.

@abe I think I’ll stick to UITF and mutual funds for now but thanks for the tip.
