DOLE pays tribute to 2 partners in East Visayas
Tacloban City — The Department of Labor and Employment in Region 8 recently paid tribute to two of its partners, one, a Management Representative and the other, a Labor Representative to the Regional Tripartite Industrial Peace Council, Regional Director Forter Puguon informed.
The honorees, Mr. Rene V. delos Reyes, administrative assistant at Energy Development Corporation, and Engr. Sherlock A. Codilla, Senior Manager for Industrial and Community Relations at PASAR, were cited for their leadership and active partnership with DOLE in promoting harmonious labor-management relations and better terms of employment and working conditions in the Region in the last five years.
Engr. Codilla represents PASAR as its Management Representative to the RTIPC where he was elected by the Employers Group as the Vice Chair for the Employers Sector which he held for the past five years.
Engr. Codilla was cited especially for initiating and pursuing efforts that led to the establishment of the Association of Contractors and Subcontractors at PASAR, a key step towards the improvement of labor-management relations as well as the betterment of working terms and conditions among its contractors and subcontractors.
Meanwhile, Mr. delos Reyes is the president of the Tongonan Workers Union at EDC and is its Labor Representative to the RTIPC where he was elected by the Labor Group as the Vice Chair for the Labor Sector, a position he held for the last five years. He is also the president of both the regional and national associations of Labor Management Committee, namely, RELAMACOP and PHILAMACOP. He is also the Private Sector Representative for Labor in the Eastern Visayas Regional Development Council.
Director Puguon said that Mr. delos Reyes was cited for his sincere commitment and unselfish efforts in the field of labor relations and labor standards enforcement, a very practical mechanism for anticipating and preventing issues and problems from transforming into labor disputes.
The DOLE Director said that the two awardees serve as shining examples and inspirations to all private sector employers and managerial employees, union leaders and workers in the Eastern Visayas Region. (PIA
