EVRAA to be held in 3 venues

ORMOCCITY – After no takers to host this year’s Eastern Visayas Regional Athletic Association (EVRAA) due to time constraint and the upcoming elelctions, the Regional Sport’s Board decided to hold regional meet in three venues, says Ormoc DepEd Sports Supervisor Ernesto Barquio.
Barquio said the venues were clustered in cluster I Tacloban City Division, cluster II Leye Division and cluster II Ormoc City division.
The EVRAA meet and the Palaro Operations Center including the hosting of the search for Miss EVRAA will be held at DepEd regional office.
Ormoc Mayor Eric C. Codilla, without hesitation, accepted and offered support to DepEd, on the fast approaching event.
In 2006 when EVRAA meet was hosted by Ormoc, the delegates enjoyed the best accommodation as they call it, meet officials are excited to be back in Ormoc.
The events scheduled for cluster I are: Gymnastics, Badminton, Taekwondo, Chess and Table Tennis. For cluster II: Softball, Baseball, Swimming, Archery, Boxing, Athletics and Special games for SPED. And for Cluster III: Basketball, Football, Volleyball, Lawn Tennis, Arnis, Sipa and Sipak Takraw. There are 10 schools divisions of Region VIII that are expected to participate. The Ormoc Superdome is offered by the city as the venue for basketball games.
Only the two big schools in the city prepared as billeting area with 20 rooms each – New Ormoc City National High School and Ormoc city Central School. A total of more or less 3,000 delegates will be accommodated including from Ormoc. Just like the previous years, the city now allocates 3 million pesos for this annual event. The Ormoc delegates whose events will be held in two other clusters, are scheduled to leave by February 16, to Tacloban and Palo, Leyte for the screening. The screenings for all the players will be held on the place where the games are played.
The Solidarity meeting will be `in Ormoc.
