MAASIN CITY — The country’s tallest bridge will soon be installed with the country’s longest zip-line facility — and much more.
Aside from the kilometer-long air-borne slide thrill, which is a captive come-on for extreme adventure lovers, the vicinities surrounding Agas-Agas bridge in barangay Kahupian, Sogod, will have matching amenities like hotels, restaurants, even a gasoline station, to cater to the rest and relaxation needs of weary commuters and the travelling public, not just thrill seekers.
This was the futuristic vision shared by Gov. Damian Mercado in a casual chat this week with local media on the sidelines of welcoming the visitors from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
But first things first. Before this very exciting scenery can ever reach first base in actual development, the provincial government would secure a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), said Gov. Mercado.
DENR is the government custodian of the timberland areas around the panoramic view as far as the eyes can see in Agas-Agas, while the DPWH owns the existing peripheral buildings and structures all around.
Gov. Mercado said the proposed MOA would stipulate the province’s intent on developing further the place which may involve a turn-over of the site altogether.
He was optimistic this can be done, citing as example the long stretch of lonely highway somewhere in Luzon which is now dotted with resting and eating places.
As it is, Agas-Agas bridege had attracted quite a number of visitors and curious onlookers — and has continued to attract — ever since it was opened to traffic following a drive-through inauguration by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on August 9, 2009.
With Gov. Mercado’s plan, investors on tourism-related business should now be on their toes for a slice in the pie should the vision becomes a reality soon. (PIA-Southern Leyte)
well, i am sorry for my above post. that was just a reaction because I`ve tried to post twice regarding maasin sentenels post and 7th mil. pero mawala after copying the capcha. sorry…
to maasin sentinel,

to 7th mil.
if you want to help with all your heart,you don`t need to apply to get an honorary degree (whatsoever) for what ! for my family and i, it is enough to see the smile to those under privilege children and adults who received the grace we shared to them. seeing their happy beautiful smile with out arrogance is more worthy to treasure that to that honorary degrees. they say; thank you to you and if you do school projects, the school will give you a certificate of appreciation. i am sure mora nag museum ang balay sa imo mga cousins kay daku man ila advantages with the easy money the received. you are a christian or whatever relegion you attend, sakto na nga ang GINOO sa LANGIT ang mohatag natu ug grasya tawhanon ra kag hunahuna.
sus klaro na jud nang fake credentials ni mian mercado.
klaro na jud nang hokos pokos operations.
di pa jud na ninyo nakita.
We are not suggesting. We are giving you the facts that honory degrees are standard operating proceduces granted by the institutions’ board of directors, faculty members and others who recommend the person to be honored in recognition of his or her accomplishments.
There are many famous celebrities you have seen over the TV, movies, videos and other media who were honored despite their incomplete secondary and/or college education. Examples: Steven Spielberg, Steven Jobs, William “Bill” Gates, etc. Oprah Winfrey received an honorary doctorate degree from Duke University although she earned an M.A. somewhere, if we remember right.
@7th Millenium a.k.a. Samuel Mercado:
Who’s “we” are you talking about, Bro? First off, why can’t you just plainly say, “I”, instead of saying “we”, or “…this writer…” (in some of your commentaries). As far as I understand the blogs here, it is only you who’s rebutting the issue about your wanna-be-civil-engineeer and blatantly bogus cousin, Damian Mercado! And, here you go again, ranting about something that is not relevant with the however-gotten title of your cousin! Who cares about those big guys like Bill Gates, Steven Spielberg, Oprah Winfrey, etc… Per their personal and societal accomplishments, they are successful; hence, they were duly recognized and honored by the institutions that received huge monetary donations from them. Considering your intellect, it surprises me that you somehow failed (purposeful or not) to bring out the fact that whatever honorary degrees they received are just IN NAME only, and not on the practical basis of a bona fide scholastic achievement or completion of a curricular career degree. Your infamous cousin whom you continuously defend for the wrong (or unknown) reasons claims to have graduated from the University of the Visayas in Cebu City. Well, I hate to bust his and your bubble again, but my friend Eddie Gullas (I am sure you know him) confirmed that, “no Damian Gaviola Mercado has ever received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in his university”! He’s had that affirmed by his staff in UV’s Registrar Office. Yet, your cousin persistently imposes himself to the people of Southern Leyte as some civil engineer! So, why can’t you just swallow the fact that your cousin’s whatever engineering stature is just a plain unjustified self-proclamation, and leave it at that! Or… as a cousin, if you really care, why don’t you advise him that his self-proclamation is actually making him look like a stupid donkey who most probably cannot comprehensively explain the difference between Differential and Integral Calculus. Or maybe you can ask him to graphically illustrate to you an “asymptote” without asking any of his engineers at DPWH.
Now, this so called hi-end vision of your infamous cousin for the bridge will surely be a flop when he fails to institutionalize the necessary infrastructure his supposed vision requires. With your badgering of think-big ideas, as opposed to think-small-first ideas, if or when he listens, will no doubt double the spiral of his failure. I don’t really care if he fails, but I’ll be damned if I let him take my beloved Southern Leyte down the drain with him. My beautiful province is too proud to be governed by such an ignorant and immoral leech who’s sucking her and her unfortunate people of precious resources.
@daniel espere
maugtas jud ka niining 7th millenneum. i think his doing this in purpose

Correction please. The second paragraph should read as:
“Why is it not relevant to mention how others received their credentials? When it comes to important credentials as part of the campaign issues, do you know that 2 hospitals in Hawaii disowned that your commander-in-chief was born over there? (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2141909/posts). How can one baby be delivered from the same mother at the same time and day in two hospitals?
@ 7th millenneun:
na confirm na nga thru eddie gullas of UV that there is no such name as damian mercado who received a degree of BS in civil engineering from that said university. the MERCADO camp has to answer
this accusation of false claim.
.
@ncode
please advice your family in maasin about this latest development.

My response:
Truth will be told someday the infamous Barrack Obama is whether or not a bona fide American-born. Birthers are still on the issue and a standing lawsuit is currently pending. Just for you to know, who have not served the military and who enjoy the warmth of the very freedom which I am sworn to protect at all costs, I pledged my allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and swore to obey the orders of my superiors appointed over me. To tell you the truth, I have no respect for the man; but I do respect and salute the office he occupies.
Regardless of Mr. Obama’s questionable case, I will not cease or desist the performance of my assigned duties and responsibilities. At the expense of my life, I will continue to defend freedom in pursuit of happiness for mankind to enjoy. You may not be able to understand this purposeful mindset Samuel Mercado as you could be a conscientious objector to certain authoritative ways of the United States. Somewhere in MaasinCity.Com’s Forum, its owner and operator, Yel Cobile, had once admonished you for your negative banter on military servicemembers, police officers and certain ways of life in the U.S. (You obviously did not know that he also proudly served in the US Army, and as a federal agent with the US Capitol Police.) Truthfully, I, too, am highly concerned about the validity of the case of the president’s birth. However, I know it is being handled by individuals with much, much higher stature than I. I reiterate, someday, truth will be told; and, I am confident that it will be when justice finally prevails to settle the case once and for all. As for now, I am still here jumping from one place to another in the Middle East busy dodging endless rounds of bullets, sleeping in makeshift sand foxholes while watching for scorpions and centipedes, and continuously hoping to see sunrise the following days. What about you, Samuel Mercado, if you’re so bitter about some of what we do here in the U.S., why are still sticking around enjoying the fruits of freedom and happiness this country offers?
I am just glad and thankful that despite what I do now, I am still able to maintain a patriotic mindset for my beloved Southern Leyte. As such I continually help some poor people who are still trying to extract themselves from the fangs of the politically-imposed socio-economic regression of our province. Thanks to Forex and DHL (money transfers and shipment of hard goods), alms that I send on a recurring basis get to their intended recipients in the province. Now, mind you, Samuel Mercado, whatever these folks spend in Southern Leyte out of the financial support I provide, actually helps the local economy in return – it’s the dollars spent on the economy! Incidentally via this process, I am also able to keep tabs on the current what’s-going-ons in the province.
Now, back to your infamous cousin, Damian Mercado. We all know that his self-proclaimed engineer status was not the basis of his qualification for the governorship. But the citizenry also knows that he is using it as leverage on his part in the management of their family-run construction businesses. It has been known that he, his brother and certain relatives had actively participated in island/inter-island business transactions that construed covert conflicts of interest. These allegations came about in light of their provincial authority and oversight on certain offical purchases and project implementations. Now, come to think of it, why wouldn’t I think that the Mercado’s construction businesses will not be involved at all in any of his supposedly high-end development at or around the Agas-agas bridge area? Hmmm…
7th Millennium a.k.a. Samuel Mercado, haven’t it gotten into your head yet that no matter what or how you sway us with your outside references, your cousin, Governor Damian Mercado is still a fake or purposeful engineer impersonator. As far as your comparative analysis bertween B. Obama and D. Mercado, there’s no comparison. In the states, the implementaion of justice prevails and puts powerful individuals or celebrities behind bars (Bernard Maddof, Martha Stewart, etc..). Meanwhile, in P.I., justice system bend along the powerful cashflow of crooked and rich politicians and send the poor to jail instead. No comparison, Samuel Mercado, no comparison!
@sweetyspy:
The likes of 7th Millennium a.k.a. Samuel Mercado only entices me to righteously banter for our Beloved Province when I know he’s out of touch with the reality our provice faces. I don’t mind. Besides, he always loses!
@daniel espere

OT:
You’re welcome, Bay! Glad to be of service; and, I am proud that our collective service is not forsaken by most Christians as well as everyone else for that matter. Our major concern right now is Iran because they’re escalating their uranium enrichment for their nukes. I think it will just be a matter of time when Israel will do the first strike before Iran does. Otherwise, it’ll be all over for the Jews knowing that Barrack Obama is a gutless individual who refuses to take responsibility of his own actions and would rather continue to blame others like Bush.
Take care, Bay sweetyspy. The Arabs and Muslims knowing that you’re a Christian (I hope I am right in my presumption that you are) will always think of you as the “infidel” who must be conquered. If you want to continue to eat rice, it’ll behove you to beware of their presence around you at all times!’
Catch y’all later. Just got mission orders for immediate deployment. Will be rock-n-rollin’ again. Hopefully, I’ll be back. Please pray for my safety…
i will pray for your safety and protection

they dont want their family to know that they converted to Christianity
reason- their family will disown them or worst they will be killed.

Lets just wait if they can work this project out. I hope dili ra sad poste ang mahuman ani, mangurakot man jud na sila pero unta humanon sad nila ang project para sad dili obvious.
And hopefully the structure would be green architecture, environmentally responsive, practical and in context with the site.
