Ormoc BJMP gets funding for prerimeter

ORMOC CITY – Ormoc Bureau of Jail Management and Penology warden Senior Inspector Enrico Fevidal expressed his gratitude to Ormoc LGU particularly

to Mayor Eric “Beboy” Codilla, for the P2.1 million worth of perimeter wall, as a counterpart of bjmp’s P1.4 million building.

The building now occupied by 12 female inmates, is being secured by a 4.2 meter high perimeter wall in the 1,200 square meter lot.

The existing lot occupied by the BJMP has a capacity of 60 inmates, has become crowded with 234 inmates, 222 of them males.  The city’s project is expected to be completed by March this year.

Inspector Fevidal looks forward on how to ulitize the huge area BJMP will be occupying.  As warden, he also considers the inmates’ fruitful life in and out of the cell.  As soon as the perimeter wall is finished, he plans to utilize the large area by giving the inmates’ life inside worthwhile, by welcoming investors to avail cheap labor cost from the inmates, thus giving them livelihood at the same time.

Fevidal said he will introduce furniture making and others livelihood opportunities for the inmates as part of value reformation so that when they will go back to the mainstream of the society, they will forego their usual illegal activities.

And while their case is ongoing, they are already earning and support their family or save to spend when become free.

Inspector Fevidal emphasizes, that this would not only mean business for the investors or individuals to share knowledge, skills and expertise, but more importantly, they will be able to help make our community more peaceful.

In addition to this, Senior Jail Officer Basilio Madula, disclosed that BJMP Ormoc is one of the recipients for the Therapeutic Communication Modality Program, as encouraged by the Regional office.  It is a Value Reformation seminar, to be attended by 105 inmates, scheduled by end of January.  This seminar is made to boast the moral values of the inmates, who may have neglected it.
