ORMOC CITY – Supporters of disqualified 4th district representatives in Leyte, Richard Gomez will still vote for him.

Liberal Party Mayoralty candidate in Ormoc, Engr. Marcos Larrazabal, an ally of Gomez, said they would continue to vote for him since his name is already in the official ballot of the Comelec for this May polls.

Gomez, husband of Lucy Torres, an Ormocana, was disqualified by Comelec’s First Division over the lack of one year residency in the 4th congressional district of Leyte.

Gomez has filed a motion for reconsideration.

“We are not affected by his disqualification at all. We will still vote for him because his name is already in the official ballot of the Comelec,” said Larrazabal, adding, “I can’t explicitly explain to our supporters because he (Gomez) is still in Manila working for his motion for reconsideration.”

Most of LP supporters were however, shocked over Gomez disqualification.

District 25 village chief Angelito Bernales, said, “Whatever happens, his support will still be for Gomez. I am firm of my decision.”

“Why can’t they just fight Gomez fair and square?” Supporters challenged the Codilla camp. “They are afraid to lose.”

Lakas party candidate Winnie Codilla retorted saying, “I am fighting for what it is right.

I pity the districts’ constituents who might have a congressman who could be as innocent as he is now, trying to fool the people by giving false documents.”
