The beaches which are usually teeming with people during Sundays were virtual ghost beaches, thanks for the tsunami warning alert.

An evacuee has said their village chief have told them to evacuate and only return to their homes after more than an hour.

Some fifteen families went to safer grounds more than a kilometer from their homes in Ibarra village.

“Malayo sa atin yung pacific (areas) pero mas maige na yong preparado,’ said a resident bringing with her few belongings and small children.

Earlier in Pacific areas

Residents in the coastal barangays in the Pacific and Panaon areas that are facing the pacific oceans were told be alert amidst tsunami warnings, said Southern Leyte Vice Gov. Miguel Maamo II.

“We are requesting the people in these areas to stay away from shoreline and to secure their fishing boats,” Maamo told the Inquirer in a telephone interview.

He added that that order was for the people to stay on higher ground or at least a kilometer from the shore particularly between 1:00 and 2:00 p.m.

He also said that indicators were placed in the seashore to gauge the sea level to know whether the sea is rising. “So far the sea is steady as 12:00 noon,” Maamo said.

Maamo said the seas on Panaon islands is rough.

Southern Leyte was included as one the provinces issued tsunami warning alert level 2.

  1. Thank you very much Jani for the tsunami warning news report. It is super good to excellent to learn and be reminded that some of our Southern Leyte officials are prepared to order warmings which alerted hundreds of our fellow Filipinos to stay away from the beaches and shorelines.

Many among us watched the live TV and Internet on-going videos on the beaches and shorelines in Hilo, in the Big Island and in Honolulu, Hawaii. The authorities including police officers had to order the tourists, visitors and beach goers to get out from the sea, shores, and move to higher floors of their hotels, and into the hills and mountains. The city government provided free bus rides to all who have no vehicles to travel up to the hills. Other tourists rented cars just to drive up to the much higher roads away from the sea level.

Thanks very much to the local and international governments and agencies for warning our fellow Filipinos, and most especially to our Savior! Let’s “be prepared” at all times!

  2. The efforts of the geologists, seismologists and scientists of the U.S. Gelological Survey are always unappreciated. For what it is worth, I thank them for sharing their technologies and expertise with the worldwide arena. Sincere thanks to the nations who participate in the treaties that promote the assistance or protection of mankind from natural calamities.

The prevalence of seismic recurrences can only attest the fact that Al Gore’s theory of global warming is indeed a bloated and politically driven hoax. Scientists who were in his pocket have admitted that there were significant data that they purposely overlook in order to promote their hoax. On the other side of the coin, several hundreds, if not thousands, of scientists worldwide have been telling the world otherwise that earth’s axis is changing causing cool climates to get cooler and hot climates hotter. Also, in the process, geologic conditions and anomalies transpire in forms of accelerated subductions, diastrophism, volcanic (land and underwater) eruptions, atmospheric increase of CO2, etc. Meanwhile, we will be experiencing extended precipitations and incidental landslides or slumps.

I’ve heard from my buddies back in the mainland USA that Mr. Al Gore is nowhere to be found. In fact, Mr. Rush Limbaugh had sarcastically implied for an APB (All Points Bulletin – cops’ term for lookout) for him so once found he will be made to explain his hoax and possibly let him return his Nobel Price. Well, simply thought by most laymen, Mr. Al Gore is hiding probably having some botox injection on his face to change his identity ha ha ha :-) What a cowardly jerk!!!

To all my beloved Southern Leytenos, I sincerely hope you all are safe. I concur with 7th Millenium (AKA Samuel Mercado) that we should not only thank the international governments and agencies for the early-warning-technologies and methodologies but also our Lord, our God. As someone said somewhere, in our moments of solitude, we must take time to kneel and yield ourselves to Him. When you are “prepared”, you will never fear afterlife.

    OT:
I know some of you may think otherwise of me – as someone seemingly speaking with such hypocrisy as I am always garbed with instruments of human destruction. However, though, if I let go of this defensive stance, the fanatic believers of Mohammed will conveniently expedite my entry through the gates of the afterlife. I admit, life is hell here in the desert sands and sometimes on these barren, rocky mountains. With only two hours of actual authorized sleep per day during battle conditions, we tackle our missions day-in and day-out with skirmishes against the Taliban in these war-torn villages. Ironic as it may seem, before each deployment for the next missions, I always take time to ask Him for another day’s worth of life. I also admit that despite this uniform I am not proud to have taken lives; but if the lives I took meant saving the lives of thousands and thousands of innocent civilians, then I guess I can only hope that my actions are understandably justified.
